Become a Friend of the Sanctuary for as little as £3 per month
The Humane Education Society, also known locally as the Animal Sanctuary, Wilmslow, was founded in 1927 originally rescuing pit ponies from Lancashire mines. Nowadays the Society cares for a multitude of animals from cats and rabbits to ferrets, pigs, hens, donkeys, horses and many others. Those that come to the Sanctuary are unwanted, abandoned, or homeless through no fault of their own. Whilst some of the animals are rehomed, many live at the Sanctuary for the remainder of their lives due to being elderly or too unwell to be rehomed. Many, particularly cats and rabbits, are found new homes as part of our active rehoming programme, but for those that become permanent residents, we are their only hope.
Could you consider making a regular donation to help support our work? Every penny really does help, so no matter how big or small, we genuinely appreciate your donation and cannot thank you enough. Your regular giving will help us in many ways. Here are just a few examples:
• It will help us provide vaccinations, neutering, worming, flea treatment, microchipping and veterinary care for our cats and rabbits.
• It will help us provide feed, routine care, medication, dentals, farriery and specialist veterinary care for our equines and pigs.
• And it will help us care for all our ducks, chickens, ferrets, and all the other ‘smallies’ that come through our door each year, all of whom are desperate for our help.
It is the tireless support and dedication of our staff and volunteers, who generously give up their time, that ensures our animals have the appropriate security and care they otherwise would not receive. The work of the Sanctuary means that many of the animals we rescue have been saved from a life of suffering and abandonment. The Society strongly believes that educating young people and adults in animal care and welfare creates a more compassionate attitude towards animals. Therefore we also provide many opportunities for volunteering as well as work experience placements for schools, Duke of Edinburgh and universities, and these volunteers are actively involved in looking after the animals at the Sanctuary. All money that is donated to the Sanctuary is used to care for our animals. Please help us continue our work by becoming a Friend. Thank you.
