Charity of the Year
The Wilmslow Guardian celebrated its first birthday by making the Animal Sanctuary its Charity of the Year.
Over the next 12 months the Guardian will be keeping readers up to date with what’s happening at the sanctuary – and raising the profile of our much-loved charity. The Guardian will be publishing articles about fundraising activities, promoting opportunities on how readers can get involved and of course, telling the stories of all the animals who live here at the sanctuary.
Guardian editor Carla Flynn said: “Promoting the fantastic work charities do in the community is a valuable part of what truly local newspapers are about and we will continue to do this in Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Handforth, Styal and Mobberley. “But as our charity of the year, we will be spending a lot of time with the Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary. Most people are animal lovers, and the volunteers at the sanctuary do a marvellous job in looking after our furry and feathered friends. “I think this is a fantastic charity and I look forward to working with the team there over the next 12 months.” Celia Reed, head of the trustees, said: “It’s a great honour to be chosen as the Wilmslow Guardian’s first Charity of the Year and a fantastic opportunity for us to promote the work we’ve been doing at the sanctuary.”
